We can’t get enough of Candace and asked her more about her experience as a fertility patient because we know her story is similar to many fertility patients of color. Candace shares, “ I spent 4 years in a Beverly Hills fertility clinic and never saw another patient that looked like me. Since I could never see myself reflected in the infertility experience, I began to internalize that my experience didn't count. That was soul crushing on many levels.

When you're at the beginning of this journey and filling out your profile, how do you know what kind of contact, communication and relationship you want?

Since we launched our Moxi Matching embryo donation platform in August 2023, we have  really started to see and understand how our service is different from other embryo donation agencies, and what it means to be part of the Moxi family.

Meeting and matching with an embryo donor or recipient is the fun part of the process! Though we know that it also comes with a lot of nerves and big feelings, matching usually carries a sense of excitement about the connection and for the possibilities ahead. But after matching, people are often left with the feeling of now what? Where do we start? How do we figure out the details of what comes next and in what order? And if the match is semi-open or the parties don't want to get too involved with each other on the front end, they may worry who is going to help them figure everything out!

Meet Claire and John, embryo donors extraordinaire! They have two boys, their second conceived through IVF, and 4 PGT-A tested embryos they are ready to donate. Claire and John epitomize what it means to be EM•POWERED donors, as they are most interested in helping another individual or couple who has felt the same struggle with infertility, and in connecting with recipients who are open to allowing all children to know each other. They are looking for recipients whose “priorities would be raising children who are kind and confident. And most importantly, free to be who they are!”

The donor-recipient relationship is a very specific and fairly unprecedented type of relationship that doesn’t come with instructions or a how-to booklet. Until now. We recognize that the process of connecting with, getting to know, and ultimately matching with a donor or recipient can come with a lot of questions. How do I start the conversation? Natasha is a California-based single mom with 11 embryos remaining. She is a doctor and part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and was an egg donor in her 20s. She is now looking to donate her remaining embryos to an “open recipient/family who is interested in creating a unique bond and creating a modern extended family!” 

The challenge surrounding what to do with remaining embryos is real for former IVF patients. What can feel like a huge win on the front end of an IVF cycle (many quality embryos to choose from!), can become decision paralysis on the back-end, after their family building is complete.
